Help us welcome new and transfer Pre-Health students by inviting them to the annual Pre-Health Kick-Off on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, from 5 - 6:30 p.m. at the Siebel Center for Design. Students can meet the Pre-Health Advising Team and Ambassadors, explore health professions, learn about services and events, and connect with RSOs. Enjoy free food, networking, and a photo booth. As the colder months approach, many students on our campus are facing the season without essential winter gear or basic hygiene products. We're calling on our campus community to come together and donate new or gently used scarves, hats, gloves, and coats, as well as unopened hygiene products like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and more. Drop-off locations: 1st Floor Lobby Donation Box at Turner Student Service, 610 E John St.  Donation drive runs through November 7, 2025. Let’s show what community means. Donate today—and help keep our students warm, healthy, and supported this winter.

The Career Services Council is excited to announce the Career Development Toolkit, a Canvas site for students that meets them wherever they are. It offers self-paced modules on a platform they already know, but without grades or deadlines. Whether they’re identifying interests, exploring options, gaining experience, showcasing accomplishments, or building connections, the Toolkit will guide them. Come explore, share it with your students, and encourage them to enroll!

The Career Center is accepting applications for two career readiness programs: CC-I, a 9-week nationally recognized program for students seeking to pursue global job and internship opportunities, and FOCUS, a semester-long program for first-gen students that builds career skills and helps close post-grad gaps. The Food Assistance and Well-being Program is an emergency resource for Illinois students who are facing financial challenges and need short-term food and basic needs support. Our pantry offers a variety of items such as protein, dairy, fresh produce, canned goods, grains, and limited personal care items. Every week, students can choose to either make an appointment at the ARC Instructional Kitchen, schedule a pick-up at CRCE lockers, or visit a Wesley Food Pantry. During Hunger Action Month this September, create awareness about food insecurity and share this resource with students you serve.

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign through the Jeffries Center a federal TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) grant for a 5-year cycle (2025-2030) totaling $1,759.350.00 ($351,870.00 annually) to improve college retention and graduation rates among low-income, first-generation students, and students with disabilities. This award marks the continuation of over fifty years of TRIO SSS services on our campus. Read more on Student Affairs News.
