The Illinois Leadership Center is now scheduling workshops for winter session and Spring 2025. If you want to get on the calendar, this is your time! We have workshops on conflict management, empathic listening, giving/receiving feedback, and more for student employees, affiliated RSOs, and any student group you may work with. John Coleman joined Illinois as Provost in July 2023. In his role, he oversees the campus’ academic programs, policies, and priorities, designed to ensure the quality of the educational experience for undergrad and grad students, support faculty development and recognition, and sustain an environment that encourages and supports academic excellence. He also serves as the chief budget officer. Provost Coleman earned a PhD in political science from MIT and a B.A. in government and history from Clark University where he was a first-generation college student. 

Sophomore first-gen students are invited to apply for the Spring 2025 FOCUS Scholarship Program (Fostering Opportunity, Community, and Unwavering Support for Underrepresented First-Generation Students). This semester-long program aims to close the gap in post-graduation outcomes and starting salaries for first-gen, underrepresented students through workshops, site visits, and networking opportunities. The Career Center is proud to announce that Dr. Pankaj Desai, Senior Assistant Director, Inclusion Initiatives, has been awarded the 2024 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in International Education Award by NAFSA, the National Association of Foreign Student Advisers, Region V. This prestigious award recognizes an international education professional in the region whose work fosters inclusive practices, promotes diversity, and advances equitable systems at their institution and beyond. Congratulations Pankaj on this well-deserved honor.
