The U. of I. annual water quality report provides information about the source of campus drinking water, contaminant testing, general health precautions, and how the calendar year 2025 sample results compare to regulatory requirements. Starting July 1, updates to the StatusHub page will make it easier for campus users to quickly find information about IT service offering incidents and maintenance. The updates include a simplified view, matching service offering names to the Enterprise IT Service Catalog for consistency, and expanded coverage. Agentic Artificial Intelligence @ U. of I. is a registered student organization focused on educating students about artificial intelligence, databases, and how information retrieval works for AI models. Through lectures and projects, they encourage students to develop AI projects for various use cases. Ashleyn Castelino will lead this session at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 25, to outline how RSO members are collaborating across campus on agentic AI development.

At 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, Michael Curtin, a professor of informatics, game studies, and design at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, will lead the upcoming Artificial Intelligence Horizons workshop. Michael taught a class with a unique dependency; in each course, he needed a detailed plan for a video game — a narrative, locations, characters, and a gameplay loop that ties it all together. AI helps meet his needs, but rather than using it to generate content, I leverage it as a framework for quickly externalizing, organizing, and iterating on ideas.

Artificial intelligence has the power, when used correctly and responsibly, to positively affect the lives of the campus community, from document conversion to simulations and role playing. At 3 p.m. Monday, June 22, we will demonstrate some of the AI-driven applications and interactions that our new team has been developing to aid in student engagement, virtualized experiential learning, and accessibility.

We will discuss some best practices for the faculty mentor’s role in the IDP process as well as how IDPs fit into new changes to NSF requirements for funded graduate students. Healthy adults ages 18-40 with no hearing loss but significant difficulty hearing in noise are invited for a study on listening in noise. There is an online survey to determine eligibility followed by lab visits for those who qualify. Lab visits include hearing screening, listening to sounds, and measuring ear and brain activity. There is a maximum of three lab visits, each lasting 2-3 hours. Compensation for lab visits is paid in cash ($15 per hour). Parking is covered, and mileage is reimbursed ($0.655 per mile, up to a maximum of 37.5 miles per visit). To participate, complete our survey.

Learn more about your home’s indoor air quality and ways to improve it. Community-Academic Scholars program mentor Sheena Martenies, a professor of health and kinesiology, and the Champaign Co. Regional Planning Commission's Indoor Climate Research and Training Division are evaluating a platform that senses indoor air quality problems in your home and offers actionable guidance to address these problems. The Alcohol Research Lab is looking for social drinkers to participate in a study that examines the effects of alcohol on brain activity as well as social and cognitive processes. Participation involves attending two 4- to 9-hour laboratory sessions and completing physiological and communicative tasks while EEG brain responses are recorded. A referral of at least one same-gender friend is required at the time of sign-up. Up to $250 in compensation.

Help make the Next Alcohol Fitbit! The Alcohol Research Lab is looking for participants for a validation study of transdermal biosensing bracelets, and we will be running sessions over the summer. Participation involves attending three laboratory sessions, wearing at least two transdermal bracelets (on your non-dominant hand), and filling out surveys for two weeks. Up to $400 in compensation for participation.

Researchers from the Department of Health and Kinesiology are recruiting adults aged 50+ for a 2-hour in-person usability study to better understand showering needs of aging adults with mobility limitations and seeking feedback on an innovative showerhead design. Inclusion criteria: Ages 50 years or older, identify as individuals who prefer to shower in a seated position due to mobility or balance concerns, and do not have upper extremity pain or diagnosis of cognitive impairment (for example: MCI, Alzheimer's).
