Need something to do for fun this summer? McKinley Stress Management Peers/Health Education Wellness Peers will be hosting Wellness Wednesdays at 5 p.m. Each week there will be a different activity around campus. Join us to connect with other people and take a break for your health — all are welcome! For the first Wellness Wednesday on June 3, we are planning on meeting up on the Main Quad. You are welcome to bring picnic blankets and any games or sports equipment — not necessary, though, as we will have a few toys! Come take a rest, play, or just be. We look forward to meeting you!

From RNA-Seq analysis and regulatory genomics to single cell and spatial transcriptomics, the virtual Computational Genomics Course introduces researchers and clinical scientists to tools and methodologies used to analyze genomic data in a rapidly evolving field. Hosted June 22–26 by the Mayo Clinic and the Illinois Alliance for Technology-Based Healthcare, the course combines lectures, hands-on labs, self-paced activities, and on-demand content. No prior coding or computational genomics experience is required.

People who are considering or working toward changing their drinking behavior are welcome to join this 4-week study. We study how people interact with information as they attempt to change their drinking every day. Eligibility includes: (1.) drinking occasionally or more, (2.) thinking about or working toward reducing or abstaining from alcohol, and (3.) proficient in English. $120 in compensation. Healthy adults ages 18-40 with no hearing loss but significant difficulty hearing in noise are invited for a study on listening in noise. There is an online survey to determine eligibility followed by lab visits for those who qualify. Lab visits include hearing screening, listening to sounds, and measuring ear and brain activity. There is a maximum of three lab visits, each lasting 2-3 hours. Compensation for lab visits is paid in cash ($15 per hour). Parking is covered, and mileage is reimbursed ($0.655 per mile, up to a maximum of 37.5 miles per visit). To participate, complete our survey.

Seeking children and teenagers for paid listening experiment
Looking for children and teenagers (ages 5-17) who are native speakers of American English and have normal hearing. The purpose of this research is to study how and when children develop the ability to process sounds in noisy environments, such as busy classrooms and other crowded environments. Participants will listen and respond to speech samples and receive a hearing test during one or two 1- to 2-hour visits. Compensation of $15 per hour will be provided after each visit. Help make the Next Alcohol Fitbit! The Alcohol Research Lab is looking for participants for a validation study of transdermal biosensing bracelets, and we will be running sessions over the summer. Participation involves attending three laboratory sessions, wearing at least two transdermal bracelets (on your non-dominant hand), and filling out surveys for two weeks. Up to $400 in compensation for participation.
