The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is hosting a campuswide food drive to support the Food Assistance and Well-Being Program, which provides support to students facing food insecurity. The shopping-style pantries — located at both the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) and Campus Recreation Center East (CRCE) — offer free food and basic necessities in a welcoming space for all students. This program ensures no student has to choose between pursuing their education and having a meal. Learn how you can support the food pantry and help students in need.

Lemann Center Lecture Series - Dec. 2

Visualizing 17 years of climate, health, and population change in the Brazilian Amazon, this project by Juan Salamanca uses the Trajetórias dataset to map environmental, epidemiological and socioeconomic trends across all municipalities since 2000. Through experimental, multilayered data visualization and an interactive platform called “Amazon Views,” the research helps users explore correlations and better understand how agrarian systems shape social and environmental outcomes.

Actor and Audience: Dressing Elizabethans in Life and in the Theatre

Join us for a fascinating exploration of clothing worn in Elizabethan England (c.1575–1600), on and off the stage. Drawing from surviving garments, period documents and visual sources, Jenny Tiramani will present evidence-based insights into historical dress practices. The lecture will feature handmade reconstructions created by the team at The School of Historical Dress in London. Jenny Tiramani is an acclaimed theatre designer, dress historian and author. She received the 2014 Tony Award for Best Costume Design for "Twelfth Night" at Shakespeare’s Globe and the Belasco Theatre in New York.

Spit Sample, Big Breakthrough: Help Us Test a Portable Health Device

The Family Resiliency Center is looking for volunteers (18+ year olds) to help with a research study aimed at improving how we measure biomarkers in saliva. Your participation only takes about 20 minutes, and you will just need to provide a saliva sample and answer a short survey. You can do it from home, work, community setting or in our lab, whichever works best for you. Why does your spit matter? Non-recreationally active participants (19-59 y/o) for nutrition research

The Nutrition and Exercise Performance Research Group is looking for participants to partake in a 2-day study to establish the utility of the indicator amino acid oxidation method in adults. Participation in this study involves 2-day habituation lead in with all meals provided, muscle biopsies and blood, breath and urine sampling during two all-day trials.
