Food Assistance and Well-Being Services at Campus Recreation

The Food Assistance and Well-Being Program is an emergency resource for Illinois students who are facing financial challenges and need short-term food and basic needs support. Our pantry offers a variety of items such as protein, dairy, fresh produce, canned goods, grains and limited personal care items. Every week, students can choose to either make an appointment at the ARC Instructional Kitchen, schedule a pick-up at CRCE lockers or visit a Wesley Food Pantry. During Hunger Action Month this September, create awareness about food insecurity and share this resource with students you serve.

Matt Caplan is a professor of physics at ISU and a visiting professor at the U. of I. for the 2025-2026 academic year. He primarily studies the interiors of white dwarfs and neutron stars, and he is a co-investigator of the Simons Collaboration for Extreme Electrodynamics of Compact Sources. He will be presenting a technical companion seminar that follows up the article published in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists in July 2025, "Nuclear Terrorists Wear Suits: Improvised Nuclear Weapons with 60%-Enriched Uranium."

Luigi Cherubini Youth Orchestra Cello Quartet Performance

Discover the cultural richness of Pakistani names in this interactive Names Training. Our presenter from Pakistan will explore how Arabic, Persian and Hindi traditions, blended with local languages such as Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi and Pashto, shape the naming practices of Pakistan. Participants will learn not only how to pronounce common given names and family names but also about the cultural significance, symbolism and meanings that these names carry within Pakistani society. Join iSEE’s Level 1 EV Charging Study!

Researchers affiliated with The Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment are studying EV charging on campus using special AC outlets (L1) in campus garages. See here for more information about Part 1 of the study. Part 2 will involve the installation of charging boxes in several campus garages for use by enrolled study participants. This is an enrollment survey. By completing this form, you agree to receive information and recommendations regarding the availability and use of the new chargers. Adults with Hearing Loss Needed for Paid Hearing Study

The ACN Lab is looking for adults ages 40–70 with mild to moderate hearing loss to participate in a research study. If you’re unsure whether you have hearing loss, you can still join — we will do the testing for you. The study involves a two-hour behavioral session and a four-hour brain wave recording. Participants will receive up to $80 in cash, and free parking is provided. If interested, take survey here or email tinnitus@illinois.edu.

Seeking adults with significant difficulty hearing in noise

Healthy adults ages 18-40 with no hearing loss but significant difficulty hearing in noise are invited for a study on listening in noise. There is an online survey to determine eligibility followed by lab visits for those who qualify. Lab visits include hearing screening, listening to sounds and measuring ear and brain activity. There is a maximum of three lab visits, each lasting 2-3 hours. Compensation for lab visits is paid in cash ($15 per hour). Parking is covered, and mileage is reimbursed ($0.655 per mile, up to a maximum of 37.5 miles per visit). To participate, complete our survey.
