Got donations lying around? Donate your personal items at the Dump and Run!

Facilities & Services and Family and Graduate Housing are partnering for the Dump and Run® summer move out event starting Monday, July 7 through Thursday, July 31. Outdoor shipping containers located in Ashton Woods and Orchard Downs will be open for drop-off donations each day between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Faculty and staff are welcomed and encouraged to drop off gently used personal items for donation. Visit the F&S website to view a map of container locations and a list of accepted and prohibited items. Donations will be collected by Goodwill Land of Lincoln.

Reds, Whites and the Blues concert at Allerton, July 11

Celebrate Independence Day weekend at Reds, Whites and the Blues on from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, July 11, on Allerton’s Gatehouse Lawn. This outdoor concert will feature Billy Galt and the Blues Deacons and Shawn Holt and the Teardrops. Food will be available from food trucks and the Greenhouse Cafè. $5 per person or $10 per family, payable upon arrival. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Guided Tour of the Idea Garden

Join a guided tour of the Champaign County Master Gardeners' Idea Garden, where certified Master Gardeners will discuss the garden's design, highlight interesting plants and answer your questions about the garden. No registration is required. Meet at the west entrance to the garden, near the parking lot. Parking is free on Saturday at the meters on Lincoln Avenue. The tour will be cancelled in case of rain.

DARPA Ag x BTO Info Session and Networking Lunch

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17, DARPA’s Biological Technologies Office is hosting a seminar at Illinois about Ag x BTO, its new initiative to defend America’s food supply from natural and engineered threats. Full Moon Hike Thursday at Allerton Park

Enjoy a Full Moon Hike celebrating the "Buck Moon" from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 10, at Allerton Park. Allerton Natural Areas manager Alex Lourash will lead the hike through the woods to listen for nocturnal wildlife under a full moon. One critical component that makes research impactful is the effective presentation of data. In this workshop, you will learn some effective strategies for clear and effective data presentation in the context of journal articles, research posters and PowerPoint presentations. By the end of this workshop, you will learn conventions for writing with figures, methods for analyzing your figure and table design and how to apply these lessons to a variety of contexts. Calling All Caregivers: Help Shape a Better Medication Support App

Are you or someone you know helping a family member or friend 60 or older who has memory problems and takes medication for high blood pressure or high cholesterol? We are conducting a research study to gather caregiver opinions on a new smartphone app designed to support medication monitoring. Seeking adults with significant difficulty hearing in noise

Healthy adults ages 18-40 with no hearing loss but significant difficulty hearing in noise are invited for a study on listening in noise. There is an online survey to determine eligibility, followed by lab visits for those who qualify. Lab visits include hearing screening, listening to sounds and measuring ear and brain activity. There is a maximum of three lab visits, each lasting 2-3 hours. Compensation for lab visits is paid in cash ($15 per hour). Parking is covered, and mileage is reimbursed ($0.655 per mile, up to a maximum of 37.5 miles per visit). To participate, complete our survey.

Seeking Participants for Streaming Media Study

This study explores how people watch television streaming in our "living room" setting. You will watch an episode of "Modern Family" while wearing eye-tracking glasses and answer questions about your experience. This study lasts 75 minutes. Looking for participants between ages 18-30 years old who do not wear glasses (contacts are ok). Participants will be awarded a $30 Amazon gift card. LittleBeats™ Baby Cues Project

We are seeking families with infants 3 to 10 months of age. Moms and babies will take part in one visit to our laboratory playroom and one visit on Zoom. Families will also complete daylong home recordings using an infant wearable device, LittleBeats. Families receive $190 in e-gift cards.
