Summer Films on the Quad return!

The Quad Summer Film Series kicks off this Thursday, May 23. Every Thursday evening until Aug. 8, starting at 9 p.m. you can enjoy a free movie on the Main Quad courtesy of Illini Union Board. Bring your friends, lawn chairs or blankets and watch the latest blockbuster movies under the stars. The Quad Shop will be open until 10 p.m. each Thursday for you to enjoy your favorite movie snacks/drinks.

2024 Virtual Computational Genomics Course | Register by June 17

Organized by the Mayo Clinic and Illinois Alliance, this one-week course introduces Mayo Clinic and Illinois faculty, staff and students to the basics of computational genomics while integrating the latest technologies and computational methodologies. The 2024 course will include synchronous and self-paced sessions with new modules on single cell and spatial transcriptomics and AI.

Bee Hive Observation at Allerton

Get a first-hand look at how honey bees manage hive activity at Bee Hive Observation on June 2 and 15, July 7 and 21 and Aug. 4. Youth Summer Learning Opportunity: Young Writers Camps

The University of Illinois Writing Project is pleased to relaunch its Young Writers Camps. Students finishing grades K-11 may enroll for one or both weeks facilitated by enthusiastic local teachers. Annual Mentoring Matters Distinguished Lecture

Christine Pfund will be speaking on Mentoring Matters: Using the Science of Mentorship to Advance Mentoring Relationships. Spring Migration Bird Hikes wrapping up at Allerton

Digitizing in Three Dimensions

Learn how to scan historic objects with your cellphone! We’ll provide an overview of how AI builds 3D objects, discuss copyright, best practices and library support. We will conclude with a demonstration of Polycam, a cellphone based tool that creates 3D models/AR views of cultural heritage objects. Looking for Friend Groups Ages 21-30 to Participate in Alcohol Research!

The Alcohol Research Lab is looking for social drinkers to participate in our study. Participation involves attending one 6- to 9-hour laboratory session and completing cognitive, social and communicative tasks while EEG brain responses are recorded. A referral of at least one same-gender friend is required at the time of sign up. Up to $100 in compensation.

Seeking adults for hearing experiment

Looking for adults (ages 18-50) who are native speakers of American English and have normal hearing. Participants will listen and respond to speech samples and receive a hearing test during a single 60- to 90-minute visit. Compensation of $15 per hour will be provided at completion. Get Involved in Paid Research into Sitting and Brain Health

Looking for adults ages 60-75 to participate in a study into prolonged sitting and how adults think.
