Public Hearing for a Department Name Change

The Senate Committee on Educational Policy will hold a public hearing on a proposal to rename the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health in the College of Applied Health Sciences to the Department of Health and Kinesiology. Blind Field Shuttle is a non-visual walking tour in which participants line up behind the artist, link arms, and agree to shut their eyes for a roughly hour-long walk. Papalia describes the experience as an opportunity for the participant to unlearn visual primacy and use their non-visual senses as a primary way of knowing the world.

Atomic Heritage, Secrecy, and Failure: The Huemul Atomic Project in Argenti

In the 1950s, Argentina spent considerable resources to join the nuclear era, recruiting a German scientist to deliver nuclear fusion in a secret lab on the remote island Huemul. It was dismantled a few years later. This lecture discusses the aftermath of a failed experiment, its legacies for a nuclear culture in Argentina, and the challenge of preserving nuclear heritage.

The study involves 3 visits to Freer Hall, wearing activity monitors, and screening. Measures include cognitive tests, electroencephalography, a body scan, maximal exercise test, and blood draws. Seeking Men & Women for Dairy Milk Study

Recruiting adults between 19-59 years old with a BMI between 25-39 for a 2-week feeding intervention to better understand the effects of dairy milk on muscle health and inflammation. All meals are included for 2 weeks. Blood and muscle samples will be collected. You'll receive $300, results from your bone density scan, and metabolic health tests upon completion. SCOPE: Soluble Corn Fiber for Promoting Executive Function Study

This study involves adults ages 45-75 years consuming two different supplements daily for two separate four-week periods. Participation involves collection of stool samples and diet records. Participants will complete surveys and computer tasks (over 6 visits of 1.5 to 2.5 hours each) to assess thinking ability. The study will take ~13 weeks total. Compensation of $350 provided upon completion.
