START myResearch Portal — Improved Search Engine Launches Tuesday, May 24th

Major improvements to the START myResearch Portal are scheduled for release prior to the start of business Tuesday, May 24th. This release includes a re-modeled search engine and updated user permissions, designed to make searching simpler. Gies Business’ new fully online Strategic Leadership & Management graduate certificate program will launch on August 10. Applications are open now. ARC Summer Construction

Starting Monday, May 23 the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) main entrance and winter garden will be closed for renovations. Patrons should enter the facility through the west doors next to the outdoor pool. Maps of how construction will impact spaces in the ARC can be found on the homepage of the Campus Rec website.

Allerton Park Tree Identification Workshop

Horticulture and Natural Resources Educator Sarah Vogel will discuss twig, bud, and bark characteristics of several native and introduced trees at Allerton Park. The walk will last about two hours. Seeking Volunteers for a Taste Study

Seeking volunteers who 1) have a normal weight (BMI 18.5-24.9 kg/m2) or have overweight/obesity (BMI ≥25 kg/m2), or 2) are scheduled to undergo bariatric surgery, or 3) have undergone bariatric surgery 2-6 years ago. Seeking Toddlers 12-18 Months for Nutrition Study

The BCNN Lab is launching a study called ELIAS, which is focused on the cognitive and nutritional development of infants beginning at 12-18 months. You will be asked to come to 6 visits (1.5 hours each) over the course of 12 months and will receive $420 in Amazon e-gift cards. SCOPE: Soluble Corn Fiber for Promoting Executive Function Study

This study involves adults ages 45-75 years consuming two different supplements daily for two separate four-week periods. Participation involves collection of stool samples and diet records. Participants will complete surveys and computer tasks (over 6 visits of 1.5 to 2.5 hours each) to assess thinking ability. The study will take ~13 weeks total. Compensation of $350 provided upon completion.

The Infant Cognition Lab needs children aged 17-23 months or 32-36 months for a brief, one-time, online study on cognitive development. In a Zoom appointment, children watch videos while we record where and how long they look. Appointments are available daily between 9 AM and 6 PM, and participants receive a $10 gift card.
