Who wants a new adventure? Are you interested in learning about the Persian language and culture? Come to Uni Period April 30 from 3:15-4 p.m. in room 109 to get a sense of what Persian sounds like. There will also be some Persian treats to taste! Dr. Azadeh Aghighi is the Persian Language Director and Coordinator here on campus and will have a few interactive activities and information about the Summer Language Institute.

MPAG and Uni's Asian American Association are still seeking submissions for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May 2026)! Please review the poster contest guidelines here before designing your poster. The top three winners will receive $50 prizes. Collaborative submissions are welcome (note that collaborators would split the prize money). Submissions may be created digitally or as physical art pieces (and then scanned with a high resolution).

Colin Thorn and Sue Kovacs Award Nominations
The PTSA is accepting nominations for the Colin Thorn and Sue Kovacs awards until Wed., May 6. The Colin Thorn Award is given to a non-student (parents, faculty, staff, etc.) whose unpaid, volunteer service demonstrates extraordinary dedication and service to the school. The Sue Kovacs Award is open to any in the Uni community--faculty, staff, students, parents, and other lovers of Uni. Math League 2nd in State
Congratulations to the math team which placed 2nd in the state on the Math League competition after 6 rounds - freshman Boyou Huang tied with 2 other students to be state champion, earning a perfect score on all rounds! Other students that earned Honor Recognition include Sri Kannan, Jonathan Chen, Aiden Kim, Krish Sundareswar, Joshua Koo, Paul Ouyang, Bryan Zhao, Chloe Lee, Renee Wang, Faith To and Michael Wu. ICTM State Math Contest Results
Congratulations to the high school math team for competing in the ICTM State contest on Saturday, April 18 - a small group participated due to scheduling conflicts, but we still medaled and had fun doing math! Freshman Aiden Kim placed 8th in the Algebra 1 contest, and Aiden and Bryan Zhao placed 2nd in the Freshmen-Sophomore 2-Person Team contest! Congratulations to all the team members who stretched their limits doing math, including freshmen Aiden and Bryan, sophomores Darshan Dakshinesh, Chloe Lee and Gemma Musgrave, juniors Sophia Chen, Daniel Lee, Ian Merrifeld and Krish Sundareswar, and seniors Katherine Rasmussen and Milky Tadesse.

Congrats to the Subbies
In advance of Teacher Appreciation Week, the PTSA hosted a competition among all students to see which class could write the most thank you notes to Uni teachers. The subbies scored a decisive victory with 201 total notes, while the sophomores contributed 53 for second place! Thanks to all the students who participated in this contest and took a minute to express their gratitude. The PTSA will deliver the notes to teacher mailboxes during Teacher Appreciation Week, and the subbies will win free popsicles at lunch on Fri., May 1!

Thanks to all the subbie students and their families who came out to our PTSA Subbie Class Family Party on Sun, April 19. Over 100 people attended and everyone enjoyed the pizza and delicious snacks purchased or created by our Subbie families. The PTSA would also like to thank the following individuals: Kyle Hummel for loaning us two bags of Uni athletic/PE equipment, Dr. Earls for helping us reserve the ARC at a reasonable price, and our four Subbie Class Parent Reps — Kelly Clark, Dan Newman, Hyun Jung Noh, and Hannah Yasunaga —for planning and organizing such a fun event!

Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4-8
The PTSA is planning to honor our Uni teachers in several different ways during Teacher Appreciation Week: candy treats on Monday, baked goods on Tuesday, a brunch on Wednesday, student thank you notes on Thursday, and thank you notes with monetary gifts on Friday. We invite Uni families to contribute as they are able! To contribute money towards the Friday thank you notes and gifts, and to donate food or time to the Wednesday brunch, please follow this link.
