Scientific Research Methodology Informational Meeting
If you are considering Scientific Research Methodology for next year or have even signed up for it, attend the required informational meeting in room 301 (the bio lab) during lunch on Tuesday. After the meeting, students will be asked to sign up to attend a 10 minute individual meeting with Ms. Smyser before being approved to take the class. The sign up form can be found on the bulletin board outside the biology lab. This is procedure is new because the pre-requisites for the class have changed this year. Illinois Marathon 5k 2026 details
The PE department wanted to remind everyone that the Illinois Marathon 5k will be on Friday, April 24. Students are required to participate in a 5k as part of their final for class. Running a 5k has been a part of the PE curriculum for more than 40 years! Students have already been registered for the race. Please take a look at this Google doc for details and email us with any questions. Spring sport athletes are exempt from participating in the 5k.

The 2026 Chang/Kolodziej Writing Competition is accepting submissions
The 2026 Chang/Kolodziej Writing Competition is now accepting entries from students at all grade levels in Fiction and Nonfiction. The deadline for submissions is the end of the day Friday, April 10, and winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on May 11. Uni High Mock Trial Team at the ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational
Uni High's Mock Trial Team competed for the second time in the ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational in Springfield on March 14 and 15. Our Plaintiff and Defense teams both performed brilliantly against formidable competition, with Jemina Feng and Oona Joyce earning Outstanding Witness Awards.

National History Day Team Qualifies for State Competition
Congratulations to the the Uni High National History Day team for qualifying for the state competition in Springfield next month. The team, which consists of Irene Kim, Sophia Chen, Jakub Tinoco Lewandowski, and Jaehyun Yi, will be presenting their documentary "John Dewey and Nationalism" on Monday, April 27.

AP Exams:Documented Absence Request Needed
For students who have individually pursued AP coursework and are taking AP exams this school year: a Documented Absence Request Form is required to be submitted and approved prior to the exam (at least 1 month) in order to excuse the time for the test. No late requests will be approved. Students are required to uphold requirements for Uni classes and coordinate any necessary make-ups. Per the handbook (pg 49): "Students are required to notify their teachers in advance of them missing class for an AP exam (recommended at least 1 month in advance) and submit a Documented Absence Request Form to the assistant/associate director for approval."

Subbie Class Family Party
The PTSA invites all subbies and their families including parents and siblings to a fun class family party at the ARC. We will play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, badminton, and spikeball. PTSA Elections for 2026-2027
The PTSA will hold its annual election for officers and parent reps at our upcoming general meeting on Wed., April 15, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Siebel Center for Computer Science, Room 1404. We currently have openings for a co-secretary and a co-president. In addition, there is no limit on the number of parent reps per class!
