This Tuesday Spanish club will be having a bake sale in the senior alcove during lunch !! All proceeds will be donated to the Immigration Project which offers non-profit immigration legal services in Central and Southern Illinois! Art Competition for Pirates of Penzance

National Art Honor Society (NAHS) is hosting an art competition for all Uni students celebrating the spring musical, Pirates of Penzance! Uni students, NAHS and the Pirates cast and crew will vote for winners in each of three categories:  Pirates, Pirate Flags and Ocean. Submit your art (8.5 x 11 inch or smaller) to Ms. Evans in person or via email by Friday, Feb 20. Entries should include name, email, entry category and locker number.  All art will be displayed.  Prizes:  stickers, baked goods and Uni theatre passes will be awarded during the play intermission on Sat., March 7.

MSA Hosting Ramadan Informational Lunch

On Friday, Feb. 13, Uni’s Muslim Students Association will be hosting an informational event to share information about Ramadan with students and staff! We will be providing falafel and chicken wraps from Shawarma Joint and discussing various aspects of Ramadan and other major Muslim holidays. Black History Month "Tiny Desk Concert" with Dr. Alonza Lawrence

Inspired byNPR's "Tiny Desk Concert" series,Uni High is celebrating Black History Month by hosting UIUC Voice facultyDr. Alonza Lawrenceand his students for Uni's first ever "tiny desk" choral concert. Dr. Lawrence and his students have backgrounds in genres including gospel, jazz, R&B, and classical, and they will perform songs from these genres.
With the "Tiny Desk" format, space at the event will be limited to 25 attendees, so please RSVPby completing this formif you'd like to attend. Lunch from Neil St. Blues will be provided for attendees.

Volunteers needed for Saturday Lunch Arts Explorations Feb. 28

National Art Honors Society (NAHS) will be hosting the second Saturday lunch arts workshop for 4th-6th graders. Visiting students and families will learn the meanings of colors & flowers; engage in colorful, floral art activities; and meet older students (you!) involved in fine arts. Volunteers are needed from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 to lead activities and talk about their experiences with fine arts. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.

PE exemption for Ramadan

Students who will be fasting during Ramadan are welcome to be exempt from PE classes during this time. Alternatively, if you prefer to stay engaged, you may choose a modified activity or an alternative task with your PE teacher's approval. Please email Coach Rachael (rbrewer3@illinois.edu) by Tuesday, Feb. 17 if you would like a PE exemption during Ramadan. For modified activities during class please speak with your PE teacher.

Ctrl-Z, CU's high school robotics team, is running a book drive for Cunningham Children's Home, a residential program for children all over Illinois. We accept books for all ages and in all conditions. Donate your books in the boxes located in the stairwells, write your name, contact information, and books donated on the sheet next to the box, and you'll be entered in the raffle! 
If you've donated books already, they count as well-- Just make sure to record your donations on the sheet.
