UniWeek is Uni's weekly bulletin with information, events, updates, opportunities, and other important school-related information. The bulletin is usually sent on the first school day each week  — typically Mondays.

Winter Party: Performance Sign-Up

Winter Party is a tradition that is held after the last final period on the Friday of fall finals week. Students and staff will exit their last final to the sounds of Madrigals walking the halls and leading the procession to our Winter Party Assembly. 
Students, staff, groups, clubs, and classes are invited to perform at the Winter Party Assembly which this year will occur on Friday, Dec. 19.

Poetry Out Loud 2026

Uni's annual Poetry Out Loud contest will be Thurs, Jan 15, 2026, during Uni Period. There's an info meeting about Poetry Out Loud this Thurs, Dec 4, in room 205 during Uni Period. If you plan to participate, sign up for Poetry Out Loud here. The sign-up deadline is Jan 8, but it’s best to start preparing your poem early. The Poetry Out Loud list has changed this year, limited to poems from 75 years ago or more. For our school-wide contest, students also have the option of choosing a poem from the list at Poetry 180, which has more modern poems. Also browse a list of suggested poems from the Poetry Out Loud list to help you choose a poem.

Auditions for Pirates of Penzance

Auditions for Pirates of Penzance will be held Dec. 8, 2025, at 4 p.m. in the South Attic. Prepare a Broadway song and your funniest joke! Please bring sheet music for the accompanist. Those auditioning for Major General should learn “When I Was a Lad” from HMS Pinafore. First rehearsal: Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. Performances: Mar. 4–7. Winter Party Donations and Volunteers Needed

Uni has a long-standing tradition of celebrating the end of the fall semester with all students and staff at the Uni Winter Party. This year, the party is on Friday, Dec. 19. To feed the entire school, we need parents to help by donating money for pizza, food items, and/or your time to decorate, serve food, and/or clean up.

University of Illinois Material Sciences in Engineering Visit

Professor Cecilia Leal and her team at Material Sciences in Engineering at the University of Illinois will be visiting us on Monday, Dec. 8 during Uni Period (1:35-2:15 p.m.) in 106N.  We welcome you to join us for a conversation about Material Science in Engineering. Let's learn together as they share tips and pointers about applying, demo different activities, and share information about Materials Engineering in general.  This conversation is open to all grade levels.  We hope to see you there!

Gather and Grow Groups

Feeling the struggle with study motivation and organization? Questioning how to better handle stress and anxiety? You are invited to Gather and Grow Groups during lunch and advisory times on Monday, Dec. 1 and Monday, Dec. 15. The topic on tDec. 1 is Study/Academic Skills and the topic on Dec. 15 is Stress/Anxiety.  Lunch will be a "Watch and Learn" format and Advisory will be a more interactive/hands-on version of the same topic. The Wellness Room is available for students who want to take a short break or need a quiet place for a reset to sit, color, breathe, and relax. This room is located on the 3rd floor in 312 and will be open during the hours below. Please sign in using the QR code on the door or through the paper sign-in sheet also located near the door. An agreement to abide by the rules of the room will be available during sign-in.
