Space still available for Native American House visit!

There are still spaces available for Uni High students to visit Native American House on campus on Tuesday, Nov. 18 after school. We'll depart Uni at 3:25 p.m. and walk over together. Snacks will be provided, and all attendees will receive a t-shirt. S4BW Thanksgiving Food Sale

Students For A Better World will host our annual Thanksgiving Food Sale on November 21 during lunch in the Uni Kitchen. Come purchase a plate of delicious food made by Uni students and support the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. A full plate of food will be $8 and includes four items. Separate items will be $2 each. We will accept cash or proof of online donations to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. We hope to see you there to support this great cause!

Poetry Out Loud info meeting this Thursday

Uni's annual Poetry Out Loud contest is Thurs, Jan 15, 2026, during Uni Period. There will an informational meeting about Poetry Out Loud on this Thurs, Nov 20, at lunch in the WAC lab (at the start of Unique). If you plan to participate, sign up for Poetry Out Loud here. It will be useful to come by the info meeting as well, if you can. If not, there will be a 2nd info meeting on Thurs, Dec 4 in 205 during Uni period. For this year's Poetry Out Loud contest, reciters can choose a poem from either the new Poetry Out Loud list (which, starting this year, is limited to older poems) or the list at Poetry 180 (which features more modern poems).

Volunteers Needed for Saturday Lunch Arts Explorations Dec. 6

Various Uni arts clubs will be hosting Saturday lunch workshops for local elementary students to learn about various arts and meet older students (you!) involved in art fields. The first workshop, hosted by Orchestra Outreach Club, will be from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (event from 12–2 p.m.) on Saturday, Dec. 6. Volunteers will help lead activities and talk about their experience with music. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.

Awards and Accolades

Uni High Athletics

Girls Cross Country capped off their season earning the teams first state berth in four years  and getting 12th place at State.  The top five girls all had PR's, and the team was led by Sophomore Clara Knutson in 43rd place, 18:24.  Freshman Janny Knutson in 19:10, Junior Cadence Scheunemann in 19:21, Senior Ella Ylagan in 19:57, and Sophomore Sofia MacDonald in 20:25.   
Girls Swimming at Sectionals were 5th place with top performances from 200 medley relay- 5th (Chloe Lee, Praachi Mudar, Annika Deschler, Lena Miller) and 400 Free relay- 5th  (Praachi Mudar, Lena Miller, Chloe Lee, Annika Deschler).

Auditions for Pirates of Penzance

Auditions for Pirates of Penzance will be held Dec. 8, 2025, at 4 p.m. in the South Attic. Prepare a Broadway song and your funniest joke! Those auditioning for Major General should learn “When I Was a Lad” from HMS Pinafore. First rehearsal: Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. Performances: Mar. 4–7. Please join Uni MPAG for our October meeting on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. MPAG meetings are open to all Uni families, staff, and students, and new attendees are always welcome!
In our November meeting, we'll hear about the Ali Center field trip, review plans for the Dec. 13 Uni community game afternoon, and discuss ideas for Spring semester events.
