Uni High Research Journal Call for Submissions

The Uni High Research Journal is a STEM and Humanities nonfiction academic journal in which all Uni students can submit their own writings. You will be able to submit class work or your own work as long as it meets the guidelines and requirements. You also must fill out the necessary information in the submission form. Decisions on which submissions were accepted will be sent out around April 2026. The two "best submissions" will be chosen when submissions close — one for STEM and one for Humanities (history, psychology, and so on). Awards will be given out for the top entry in each respective category.

ExploraVision Informational Meeting

An ExploraVision informational meeting will be held in Room 301 (The Bio lab right next to the elevator on the third floor) during lunch on Oct. 8. ALL students interested in ExploraVision should attend. The rules have changed, so come to the meeting even if you have done ExploraVision before.  Another meeting will be held in a couple weeks to actually sign up to do the project. Use the intervening time to find a group and determine your topic, which you should know at the next meeting.   My email is cl40@illinois.edu if you have questions.  If you simply want to know more about what ExploraVision is, check out exploravision.org

Student Library Advisory Committee Meeting This Wednesday

The Student Library Advisory Council is meeting THIS Wednesday, Oct. 1 during lunch. It will be our first meeting of the year! Join us in the library for snacks while you hear about clubs and programs that we run in the library, like movie nights, escape rooms, dialogue series, and so much more. The most important part of our meetings, though, is getting feedback from Uni students. We want to know what events you want to see in the library this year, what materials you want added to our Uni library, and how we can best serve you. Join us every first Wednesday of the month during lunch to hang out, eat, and have fun!

Fall Vaccine Updated Guidance (Illinois Department of Public Health)

IDPH released its own guidance for fall respiratory vaccinations that expand access based on scientific research and best practices. Everyone over 6 months of age should receive a flu vaccine. COVID-19 vaccines are recommended for all adults, as well as children ages 2–17 with at least one risk factor or if desired by a parent/guardian.
A statewide standing order also protects access to COVID-19 vaccinations. All ACA and state-regulated plans, as well as most private insurance, will continue to cover COVID-19 vaccines.
We strongly encourage everyone to get fall vaccinations as recommended by the IDPH to protect our Uni community.
