Poetry Scavenger Hunt Wednesday April 30
Creative Writing is sponsoring a Poetry Scavenger Hunt April 30. We will gather at 3:15 at the front doors. Hunt is from 3:30 to 4:30. You will find clues to rocks painted with poetry lines. The rocks will be planted across campus; you will have one hour to return to Uni. There will be five teams of four. The first team back with all rocks documented at the location they are at, will win prizes. You can sign up as a team or individually. To sign up contact: Ms Walden at grwalden@illinois.edu. S4BW Lemonade Stand
Students for a Better World (S4BW) will be having a Lemonade Stand on April 30 in the first-floor hallway during lunch to celebrate the warm weather! We will have lemonade with fresh fruit add ons and syrups available for you to customize your drink. It will be cash only and all proceeds will go to The National Immigrant Justice Center.

Student Thank-You-Note-Writing Competition
For Teacher Appreciation Week, the PTSA is hosting a competition among all students to see which class can write the most thank you notes to Uni teachers! The competition started last Tuesday and will run until Friday, May 2, in the Uni High Library. All supplies are provided at the PTSA's thank-you-note table! Students in the winning class will each receive bragging rights plus a free popsicle at lunch!

MPAG and Uni's Asian American Association are seeking submissions for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May 2025). Please review the poster contest guidelines here before designing your poster. The top three winners will receive $50 prizes. Collaborative submissions are welcome (note that collaborators would split the prize money). Submissions may be created digitally or as physical art pieces (and then scanned with a high resolution).

Colin Thorn and Sue Kovacs Award Nominations
The PTSA is accepting nominations for the Colin Thorn and Sue Kovacs awards until THIS FRIDAY, May 2. The Colin Thorn Award is given to a non-student (parents, faculty, staff, etc.) whose unpaid, volunteer service demonstrates extraordinary dedication and service to the school. The Sue Kovacs Award is open to any in the Uni community--faculty, staff, students, parents, and other lovers of Uni. UFO Logo Design Contest
The Uni Faculty Organization (UFO), the bargaining unit of Uni High Faculty, is holding a contest to design its next logo. The winning design will appear on UFO swag such as t-shirts, stickers, and buttons. We invite students to submit their designs to Dr. Wilson (anwsil84@illinois.edu) by May 1. The creator of the winning design will receive a free t-shirt with their logo on it.

In the fall, Uni launched a new initiative--U 'n' I--for students to keep track of their Uni-sponsored community service hours to be recognized at the end of the year. Please remember to complete this form documenting any previously unreported Uni-sponsored community service hours by May 1. Students who complete 10+ hours of community service and one reflection will receive a certificate and be invited to an ice cream celebration in May.

U of I Arabic High School Summer Program
The Arabic High School Program will take place from June 15 to June 28. This is an introductory course in Modern Standard Arabic for high school students with limited or no prior knowledge of the Arabic language. Students will experience campus life, learn a new language and earn two college credits! For our 2025 program, we were awarded a generous grant from the Qatar Foundation International.
