April PTSA General Meeting, Elections, and Amendments to Our Bylaws
The PTSA will hold its next general meeting on Wednesday, April 16, from 5:30-6:30 pm in DCL 1320. Everyone is welcome! We will be voting on a full slate of candidates for next year's executive board, and we will also be voting on whether to amend our bylaws by adding this final sentence to Article I: "This PTSA is incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois." UFO Logo Design Contest
The Uni Faculty Organization (UFO), the bargaining unit of Uni High Faculty, is holding a contest to design its next logo. The winning design will appear on UFO swag such as t-shirts, stickers, and buttons. We invite students to submit their designs to Dr. Wilson (anwsil84@illinois.edu) by May 1. The creator of the winning design will receive a free t-shirt with their logo on it.

Scholastic Bowl Individual National Championships
On April 6, Uni was represented by Ben Newman (literature specialist) and Jonathan Ouyang (science specialist) in the NAQT Individual Player National Championship Tournament. Ben placed 2nd nationally in the Literature category, and 34th overall; Jonathan finished 5th nationally in the Science category, and 199th overall. Please congratulate them on their achievement.

Uni High 5k quickly approaching
PE students have been preparing for the Illinois Marathon 5k which will be run Friday, April 25. Every summer, the ACLU hosts the National Advocacy Institute High School Program, a week of programming in Washington, D.C. for high school students (ages 15-18) from across the United States. The institute aims to teach students about civil rights and civil liberties, and empower the next generation of leaders to make social change.

Uni Cookbook
The PTSA has extended the deadline for contributing to our new cookbook: "Uni_ted Around the Table: Celebrating Uni Kitchen." We hope to feature a “Potluck Dishes” section, a “Seniors" section of family favorites for students to take to college, and a “Freshman Pie Contest” section, but we need your recipes to make these sections possible! Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5-9
The PTSA is planning to honor our Uni teachers in several different ways during Teacher Appreciation Week: special snacks on Monday, treat bags on Tuesday, a brunch on Wednesday, student thank you notes on Thursday, and thank you notes with monetary gifts on Friday.
