Uni’s Asian American Association is collaborating with multiple language and cultural clubs to host a Multicultural Food Tasting Event for the Uni Community. This event will be Friday, March 28 during Uni Period in Uni Gym. Individual students (not as members of a club) and parents are also welcome to participate by bringing a dish to share that represents your cultural background. We hope the event will be a great time to try new foods and connect with other cultures! If you are interested in bringing food please sign up here.

Uni's Multicultural Parent Advisory Group recently hosted a two-part discussion of Heather McGhee's The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together, and we wanted to make sure students also had the opportunity to engage in conversations related to McGhee's timely argument. We invite up to 25 students to attend a catered lunch on Thursday, March 27 to discuss selections from The Sum of Us in small groups. We're asking participants to read two chapters of the book ahead of the lunch (PDFs linked on sign-up form). To participate, please sign up here by Friday, Mar. 14.

The annual Sprabitat/PTSA Trivia Night & Silent Auction is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, from 6:45-9 p.m. in Uni Gym. The whole Uni community is invited: students, staff, and families. Proceeds from this event will be split between Spring Initiative (a non-profit in Clarksdale, MS, founded by Uni alums) and the PTSA. Find some great deals, enjoy some friendly trivia competition, and support great causes!   Start figuring out your teams and make plans to join us on April 5!

Uni High's Mock Trial Team (leaders: Deven Galvez, Brooke Hong, Jemina Feng, and Miriam Mostafa) will for the first time ever be competing in the statewide ISBA High School Mock Trial Invitational on Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 16, at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. The team will be litigating in two separate trials, as Prosecution and Defense, in the Case of the Fentanyl-Laced Brownies.

Basketball season has finished and we had some amazing seasons from players earning all-conference honors.   ECIC All Conference was awarded to Junior Olisa Allanah and JR Chizara Onymere.   Olisa led his team with a season total of 324 points.   Chizara led her team with 247 points for season, 76 rebounds and 63 steals.   Senior Collins Rosch was honorable mention all conference leading his team with 50 3-pointers made.

We are offering a 3-day plan (Mon/Wed/Fri, $162.80) plan or a 5-day plan (Mon – Fri, $281.20). Families who are eligible for full or partial fee waivers can participate in the lunch program at no cost.
Checks for 4th Quarter lunches should be made out to "University of Illinois" and dropped off in Uni's main office by Monday, March 31, 2025. If you would like to pay by credit card, call 217-333-2870.

The PTSA would like to thank the dozens of volunteers who donated food, time, and/or resources to our Subbie Family Carnival, our Freshman Family Early Pi Day Celebration, and our Spring Conference Meal for Teachers.  Both class parties were well attended, with over 200 guests between the two events!  And the teachers were very appreciative of the delicious dishes provided at the Conference Meal.  Finally, we would like to give a huge shoutout to all our subbie and freshman parent reps who coordinated these events: Abrita, Ana, Cathy, Cyndi, Jenny, Katie, Liz, Mary Kate, Shawn, and Trucle!

The PTSA is creating a special cookbook to celebrate the amazing diversity of our school community! "Uni_ted Around the Table: Celebrating Uni Kitchen" will feature beloved recipes from our potlucks, showcasing the rich cultural flavors that bring us together. We will include a “Potluck Dishes” section, a “Seniors" section of family favorites for students to take to college, and a “Freshman Pie Contest” section!
