On Monday, April 14 Uni High will be holding a day-long outreach event at Booker T. Washington STEM Academy. We're seeking proposals for 40-minute activities for grades K-5 related to water, Earth Day, or the scientist St. Elmo Brady. Activities may be proposed by Uni faculty, students (on behalf of a club or independently), or parents. Activity proposals do not need to be STEM-focused. This year, Uni will have a booth at CU's Read Across America celebration on Saturday, March 8. We're still seeking clubs to volunteer for a one-hour shift to read picture books to kids at the event. Club sponsors will need to be present as chaperones for participating clubs during their shift. Unique is Uni's literary and art magazine that publishes work from Uni students annually. If you want YOUR wonderful creations featured in the publication, please send your poetry, prose, and/or visual art to unihigh.unique@gmail.com. You can send as many as you want. We anonymously review submissions every Tuesday lunch in room 303. Indicate in your email if you want your submission to be anonymous in the final book. We're accepting submissions through March 24 at 11:59 p.m.

Lab Mission Fair
Juniors and Seniors: Are you interested in learning about Uni's Lab Mission activities? This year Fine Arts, Social Studies, and P.E. will be presenting their recent lab mission activities along with colleagues from the Library, Lisa Micele and Siebel Center for Design. If you would like to attend the Lab Mission Fair, please request an invitation by filling out this webform. Invitations will be issued to 20 students. After receiving an invitation, students will need to RSVP to secure their place at the event.

The PTSA is creating a special cookbook to celebrate the amazing diversity of our school community! "Uni_ted Around the Table: Celebrating Uni Kitchen" will feature beloved recipes from our potlucks, showcasing the rich cultural flavors that bring us together. We will include a “Potluck Dishes” section, a “Seniors" section of family favorites for students to take to college, and a “Freshman Pie Contest” section! REMINDER: Girls at Uni may now apply for the Barbara Lazarus Award, through the Barbara Lazarus ’63 Memorial Fund. The Barbara Lazarus ’63 Memorial Fund exists to encourage, facilitate and support girls at Uni in the study of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). All mental health days are recorded as full-day absences. While students may choose to attend later classes, this does not modify their mental health day status - the entire day remains documented as an excused mental health absence.

PE exemption for Ramadan
Students who will be fasting during Ramadan are welcome to be exempt from PE classes during this time. Alternatively, if you prefer to stay engaged, you may choose a modified activity or an alternative task with your PE teacher's approval. Please email Coach Rachael (rbrewer3@illinois.edu) by Wednesday, Feb. 26 if you would like a PE exemption during Ramadan. For modified activities during class please speak with your PE teacher.

ISBE Spring Testing Dates
ISBE has changed its mandated spring tests for grades 9-11 from the PSAT/SAT to the PreACT/ACT. Subbies will take the IAR and ISA. Please note the following dates and information: Main testing day: March 31 at the Illini Union. • This will be INCLUDE Subbies, 9th/10th and 11th grade. • Seniors are scheduled for a volunteer day. • Accommodated testing times and locations will be emailed individually Subbie testing day #2: April 7 in Uni gym Make-up testing day: April 8 in Uni gym We will send out more detailed information including arrival times closer to the testing dates.

Spring Conference Meal for Teachers
The PTSA invites all Uni families to help us provide a meal for Uni faculty on Thursday, Mar. 6, the evening of spring guardian-teacher conferences. We are asking for a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods, along with set-up and clean-up volunteers.
