It's Official: The Uni High Library will be hosting their 2024 Escape Room May 6 - May 10! Do you think you can you clear the asbestos from Uni High Library in under 20 minutes? Uni Design Lab 2024
Uni Design Lab 2024 - Regatta Twelve (rising Sophomore, Junior and Senior) Uni students will practice human centered design concepts by working in teams to create a cardboard boat suitable for racing. The class will culminate with a student regatta. The class will be taught by Professor Shin, Associate Professor, School of Art and Design. Ms. Evans, Teaching Associate from Uni High, will facilitate the class. Click for more information and an application. Priority applications printed on paper due May 6, 2024 to Ms. Evans.

The booster club is in need of parents to help be representatives for athletics at Uni next school year, along with a new President, Vice President, and Treasurer as those roles are currently filled with parents of Seniors. Cali was highlighted for her amazing performance at the U of I Showcase scoring four goals against Danville.

Student Thank You Note Competition for Teacher Appreciation Week
The PTSA and StudCo are sponsoring a friendly competition among classes to see which class can write the most thank you notes to Uni Teachers for our upcoming Teacher Appreciation Week celebration. Students are encouraged to visit the thank you note station in the Uni High Library before the end of school on Monday, May 6, to write and submit their notes to the appropriate class box. The winning class will receive free popsicles from the PTSA during lunch on Friday, May 10!

Investigation of Eye Movements in Skilled and Developing Readers
Adolescents (14 to 17 years old) are invited for a paid psychology study. Purpose: To understand how personal experience is related to how people read, we invite adolescents (ages 14-17) who speak English at home for an in-person study. We will record the eye-movements while they read on a computer. We provide $15 per hour compensation and cover parking expenses.

Did you know that the Parent Fund is NOT a new campaign and was actually established in 1975? The Uni High Parent Fund has played a vital role in shaping the unique experiences and opportunities available to Uni High students for the last 50 YEARS! Private support through the Parent Fund ensures that Uni High can offer a wide range of enriching activities, including no-cut sports, clubs such as scholastic bowl and chess club, as well as faculty professional development. Support of this fund has been vital the last 50 years and will continue to be for the next 150 years!

Disorientation Picnic for Uni Students and Staff
The Disorientation Picnic for students and staff will be held on Friday, May 17, the final day of school for Uni seniors. The PTSA will serve pizza, snacks, and desserts to students and staff at 3:15 pm in the grassy space between Uni High and Uni Gym. Many students enjoy using their time at this annual event to sign one another's yearbooks. There are many ways you can help make the Disorientation Picnic a success! Nominations for the Thorn and Kovacs Awards
The PTSA sponsors two awards each year. The Colin Thorn Award (named for the long-time Uni boys' soccer volunteer coach) is given to a non-student (parents, faculty, staff or friend) whose unpaid, volunteer service demonstrates extraordinary dedication and service to Uni. The Susan Kovacs Award (named for the much respected Uni administrator and parent) is given to any in the Uni community--faculty, staff, students, parents, and other lovers of the school. To nominate one or more individuals, please fill out the nomination form. Nominations close May 3 and awards will be presented on May 13.
