Inter-Generational Trivia Night: April 13

On Saturday, April 13, at 6:45, in Uni Gym, Uni PTSA and Sprabitat Club are joining to host a fun, inter-generational Trivia Night.  There is a $5/person admission fee, and the proceeds go to Spring Initiative and the PTSA.
Students and families form teams of up to six players and compete in six rounds of fun trivia. Round and overall winners get modest prizes and major pride. There will also be a silent auction with an opportunity to win gift cards to local businesses and other fun prizes.
So, start forming your teams, and please RSVP to help us plan!

Uni Community Discussion of The Sum of Us

MPAG will be hosting a discussion of The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together for Uni students, families, and staff on April 14 from 4 - 6:30. All members of the Uni community are welcome. MPAG will provide snacks for the discussion. We hope you can join us. Please RSVP here.
There will be three levels for the discussion, with different groups focused on chapters 1-2, chapters 1-3, and chapters 1-5. We plan to discuss the second half of the book at a follow-up event.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Student Poster Contest

To celebrate several cultural heritage months in 2024, MPAG is hosting a series of student poster competitions. Student artists, help Uni celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month this May by submitting your original art for our second poster competition! We invite you to share original poster art submissions highlighting the historical and/or cultural contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans at https://forms.gle/az6LQZwkAaRYAgLj6 by April 22. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive monetary prizes of $75, $50, and $25, respectively.

The 2024 Chang/Kolodziej Writing Competition deadline is MONDAY, APRIL 15!

The deadline for all submissions to the 2024 Chang/Kolodziej Writing Competition is the end of the day Monday, April 15. Entries in FICTION and NONFICTION should be shared as a Google doc with Mr. Mitchell (including "Edit" permissions) at mtmitch@g.illinois.edu, and all entries should be accompanied by a completed entry form. Congratulations to ICTM State Math Competition Competitors

The ICTM State Math competition was held on 4/6/24. Congratulations to the whole team who won 5th overall!

Uni High Athletics update

Uni High spring sports are underway with a great start to the seasons.  
Boys Tennis won their opening tournament at the Troy Triad Knights Invitational, led by SR Aryan Sachdev.  
Track and Field saw a new school record broken in girls shot put.  The record of 33'9 from Emma Hoyer stood since 2013 until Nyla Kyles unleashed a great performance besting the record with a toss of 34'6".  The team is excited to see how far Nyla can extend her school record before the end of the season.

Uni High Prom: Once Upon a Time Tickets LIVE!

Uni High Prom: Once Upon a Time tickets are now on sale! 
This year's prom will be on April 27, 7-11 p.m. at the I Hotel. Ticket sales will go from Monday, (3/25) through Thursday, (4/11) at $40 per person. Similar to last year, prom will allow a maximum of 15 out-of-school guests to attend. Please see the previous email to ensure attendance for your guest.

Seeking parent chaperones for April 19 outreach day

On Friday, Apr. 19, Uni High will be joining Booker T. Washington STEM Academy for an all-school celebration with a series of Uni-led activities related to water, Earth Day, and UIUC alumnus St. Elmo Brady, the first African American Chemistry Ph.D. Afterward, Uni students will join BTW for a pizza lunch and recess. We’ll need help from parent chaperones throughout the day, and would love to have another dozen parents sign up as chaperones. Town Hall and General PTSA Meeting on April 17

All Uni families are invited to a Town Hall meeting with Dr. Majerus followed by the PTSA's final  general meeting for the school year on Wed., April 17, at 5 p.m. in 1404 Siebel Center.  Dr. Majerus will speak briefly, then there will be a short Q and A session, and then we will begin our meeting, which will include our elections for next year. We are still seeking candidates for the secretary and treasurer positions. Our PTSA is only as strong as our executive board — please consider volunteering your time to help us support your student and all students at Uni High!
