(Kirkus Review) Special guest, Kyoko Sawada, will present in Japanese and English. All students are welcome to listen and browse in-library books about cherry blossoms.

The 2024 Chang-Kolodziej Writing Competition is accepting entries in Fiction and Nonfiction. The deadline for submissions is the end of the day Monday, April 15, and winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Monday, May 13. Uni High students at all grade levels are encouraged to enter! See the information sheet for further details, and fill out an entry form to accompany your submission. To celebrate several cultural heritage months in 2024, MPAG is hosting a series of student poster competitions. Student artists, help Uni celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month this May by submitting your original art for our second poster competition! We invite you to share original poster art submissions highlighting the historical and/or cultural contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans at https://forms.gle/az6LQZwkAaRYAgLj6 by Apr. 22. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive monetary prizes of $75, $50, and $25, respectively.

If any students are interested in volunteering opportunities at Carle, there will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, March 27 during lunch in room 109. Along with information on volunteering, Carle will be discussing opportunities in the healthcare field, from entry level to greater schooling, educational programs, scholarships and tuition assistance. The Illinois Mathematics Lab (IML, formerly IGL) - Uni summer research collaboration is a chance for Uni students to experience mathematical research while working as a part of a small group led by a UIUC graduate math student. Research groups meet in-person on the UIUC campus for 9 hours each week. The program will run from July 8 - August 2 this summer.  If you would like to apply please complete the application by April 26, 2024.  If you have any questions, please see or email Ms. Runkel.

Uni parents, students, and staff, please join MPAG for our March meeting on Wednesday, Mar. 27. This month's meeting will be on Zoom at go.illinois.edu/mpag (Meeting ID: 850 7082 8404, Password: unimpag). We'll finalize plans for the Apr. 14 discussion of The Sum of Us and discuss ideas for MPAG leadership structures for the future. All are welcome! We hope to see you there!

This is a friendly reminder about the upcoming 2024 Senior Supper, a cherished tradition where our senior students come together with their teachers to celebrate this milestone before graduation. The 2024 Senior Supper if scheduled for Thursday, May 16 from 6-8 p.m. at the I-Hotel and Conference Center. Please remind your student to RSVP if they have not already done so. 

Interested in serving on the PTSA Exec Board?  No experience necessary--just a willingness to donate a modest amount of time to help make our Uni community stronger and better for students, teachers, and families!  We have openings at the Treasurer and Secretary positions, and there's no limit to the number of Parent Reps per class. We are excited to share that the current household participation rate in support of the Uni High Parent Fund has reached 42%. Last time we reported our progress in the UniWeek we were at 32% participation. That is a 31% increase in giving! THANK YOU Uni Families for your continued support as we continue to work towards our goal of 100% participation among Uni households.
