Spanish Storytime: The Poems and Songs of María Elena Walsh
Join the library in learning about María Elena Walsh, the Argentine poet and musician famous for her children's books and songs! A presentation of her work and life will be delivered in both Spanish and English by a graduate student in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese. Students will also be able to browse in-library materials featuring portraits taken by Walsh's partner: Sara Facio.

Poetry Out Loud regionals Feb. 8
Callie Standerfer and Leyla Cohen will advance to the East Central Illinois Regional Poetry Out Loud contest on Thursday, February 8 at 5:30 p.m. This event is open to the public, so please come out to support Callie and Leyla and join in the celebration of poetry! Callie and Leyla will perform two poems of their own choosing at the contest. The Regional Poetry Out Loud contest will be held at the Independent Media Center at 202 S. Broadway in Urbana, adjacent to Lincoln Square. Parking is available in the Lincoln Square lot to the south or the parking garage across the street from the Hotel Royer (formerly Jumer's Hotel) to the north.

Students for a Better World (S4BW) is having a rose sale during lunch Feb. 8 and 9 on the first-floor hallway, where anyone can buy a rose wrapped in paper and ribbon for a special someone (or for friends!). These bouquets will cost $2, and only cash will be accepted. All money will go to Jumprope for Heart/American Heart Society. Buyers will fill out an order form at the table with quantity information, a locker number for delivery, and we will also have notecards for people to write notes! Uni High Athletics Winter Sports: High School boys and girls basketball are coming to an end of the regular season, Good Luck to both teams in the post season! Spring Sports: If competing in a spring sport please make sure to sign up in the main office with Sheree Denham. High School Track has begun but students can still sign up. Subbie Track will begin Monday March 18. Boys Tennis and Girls Soccer both begin on Monday February 26. Coaching vacancies: Uni is currently searching to fill two coaching vacancies.
