Student judges needed for campus research competition
U of I's Graduate College has invited Uni High to collaborate on their Research Live! competition for the second year. We're seeking a dozen 10th - 12th graders who are interested in research and communication to judge grad student finalists' video presentations for Research Live! Participants will learn about ground-breaking research on our campus and effective communication styles. Snacks will be provided at info meeting and training, and pizza during judging. Poetry Out Loud results
Congratulations to Callie Standerfer and Leyla Cohen, who took First and Second place, respectively, in last Wednesday’s Poetry Out Loud competition. Callie and Leyla will advance to the Poetry Out Loud regional contest on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 5:30 p.m. at the Independent Media Center (IMC) in Urbana. The event is open to the public––feel free to attend to support Callie and Leyla and enjoy some poetry performance. Congrats also to Lana Cooper who, as third place finisher, will serve as Uni's runner-up. Thanks to Cecilia Calfas (lights) & Sandaru Devmal (prompter) for their help with the Uni contest, and for judging help from Ms. Lehman, Ms. Lombardi, Mr. Mitchell, & local author John Milas.
