Break Program Series: Movie Screening & Sushi Making

Join us for a screening of the award-winning film East Side Sushi, which features the story of a Latina mother aspiring to become a sushi chef while working in a Japanese restaurant and striving to overcome all odds as she pursues her dream. Paired with the screening, we will provide materials to engage in a sushi making activity for an afternoon that will provide food for thought on the intersections of culture and identity, and delight your tastebuds with a delicious culinary feast. Fulbright Grants for Grad Students -- Campus Deadline July 21

Interested in conducting research, getting arts training, or teaching English overseas during 2026-27? If so, now is the time to apply for a Fulbright grant. Graduate students in all fields who are US citizens or nationals are eligible, and grants are available for over 140 countries. The best way for Illinois grad students to apply is through the Graduate College, and the deadline for that is Monday, July 21. Writing Ethically and Effectively with GenAI

This presentation will review basic principles of writing with GenAI, including strategies for prompting, addressing different stages of the writing process, and considerations for data privacy and ethical communication. As you put the finishing touches on your thesis deposit, it’s a great idea to think of some of the things you need to do if you are preparing to leave the University of Illinois, like set email forwarding, create a plan to manage your Box files, and don’t forget to return your library books! Erlanger After Dark! | Carle Park, Urbana

In celebration of the “Making Place for the Arts at Home” exhibition, Krannert Art Museum and Urbana Arts and Culture present Erlanger After Dark—a free, all-ages evening honoring the legacy of dance and midcentury modern architecture at the historic Erlanger House in Urbana. Activities start at 7 pm in Carle Park with artmaking, music, and local food trucks, followed by outdoor video projections onto the home’s exterior at sundown (around 9 pm).  The film footage features documentation by Dr. Laura Chiaramonte of Anna Sapozhnikov’s “Good House Keep” choreography.
