Global Young Scientists Summit in Singapore - STEM Conference
The Graduate College is accepting departmental nominations for graduate students and postdocs in STEM (sciences, social sciences, technology, engineering, & math) to attend the Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS), to be held January 6-10, 2025 in Singapore. GYSS is a highly prestigious conference that brings together science luminaries and young researchers from around the world. Speakers include recipients of the Nobel Prize, Fields Medal, Millennium Technology Prize, & Turing Award. See details in the Fellowship Finder database.

Starting July 8, the default sharing link for files in Microsoft 365 will be “People you choose.” The default sharing link setting will no longer be "People in University of Illinois Champaign Urbana." This will affect files that are shared from Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business. You will still be able to select those other types of links if they are more suitable for your use case.

July 12 is the last day to add a S2B (4 week) course via Self-Service, to drop a S2B (4 week) course and receive a refund if reducing assessment range (if you are not enrolled in courses in any other summer terms), and to submit a form to the Office of the Registrar to elect to audit a S2B (4 week) course. Summer Break Series - Crochet & Calligraphy at the Y

Fulbright Grants -- Campus Deadline July 15
Interested in conducting research, getting arts training, or teaching English overseas during 2025-26? If so, now is the time to apply for a Fulbright grant. Graduate students in all fields who are US citizens or nationals are eligible, and grants are available for over 140 countries. The best way for Illinois grad students to apply is through the Graduate College, and the deadline for that is Monday, July 15. As you put the finishing touches on your thesis deposit, it’s a great idea to think of some of the things you need to do if you are preparing to leave the University of Illinois, like set email forwarding, create a plan to manage your Box files, and don’t forget to return your library books! Check out our Post-Deposit Considerations page to learn more. Don’t forget to check with your department to see if there are any final tasks you should complete (such as returning keys, exit interviews, etc.).

We will provide strategies for writing the problem statement, research questions, review of literature, methodology, and proposed timeline. This presentation will also offer tips for staying motivated and getting through this sometimes-daunting process. Writers from any discipline are welcome.
