Designing Infographics on the Web

Infographics can be an effective way to convey small bits of information very quickly, while drawing viewers in due to their visual appeal. Where To Find Millions of Books, and How To Read Them

The HathiTrust Digital Library is the world’s largest, holding nearly 17.5 million digitized volumes from research libraries around the world. The HathiTrust Research Center, co-located here at UIUC and at Indiana University, is the research gateway to that enormous, near-universal library. This talk will briefly introduce the Center's text and data mining tools, which allow researchers to computationally analyze the millions of volumes of text held in the HathiTrust Digital Library.

The recipient of a Grammy nomination, an MTV Video Award, the 2005 Artist for a Better World award, and the 2006 Spirit of Youth award, Nadirah Shakoor is best known as the former lead female vocalist of acclaimed hip hop group Arrested Development. Writing With AI Workshop

Led by Mary Ton, Assistant Professor & Digital Humanities Librarian, and Michael Curtin, Innovation Coordinator at the Office of the CIO. Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing the way we write and research. How do these tools work? How can we use them effectively and ethically in our scholarship? In this workshop, we’ll explore how tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and UIUC.chat can help you brainstorm topics, craft titles and abstracts, create outlines, and copyedit. Along the way, we’ll discuss how AI works, its limitations, data privacy concerns, and publishers’ AI policies.

Intensive Language Instruction Program (ILIP)

ILIP is a unique educational experience designed to accelerate language learning in 13 languages through a fun and immersive classroom atmosphere. There is no required attendance, minimal homework, no grade, and all materials are provided. ILIP classes combine language and culture through engaging high-quality activities facilitated by our skilled instructors. Students will receive 30-hours of friendly and welcoming language instruction that maximizes exposure to the target language and helps them meet their own personal learning goals.
