Image of Research 2024 - Enter by January 22!

Graduate and professional students, including online students, are invited to enter the 2024 Image of Research competition! Submit a photo related to your research, scholarship, or creative work, and a short (100-200 word) narrative to communicate the connection between your image and your research. Images can represent your work either concretely or abstractly. Awards are given for first ($500), second ($300), and third place ($200) as well as people’s choice ($100). Fall 2023 Reading Day Registration Deadlines

December 7 is the last day to add/drop (with a "W") a Semester or Part of Term B course (Late Registration form in the Graduate College Student Portal). Dec. 7 is also the last day to withdraw from ALL semester courses with "W's" (Withdrawal/Cancellation Form + dept approval required; ISSS approval required for international students). All forms due to Graduate College by 5pm Reading Day, Dec. 7. Students in non-standard part of term courses should refer to their graduate program for info. Master's Thesis Deposit Deadline

Friday, December 8 at 5 p.m. is the last day to complete a master's thesis deposit for December 2023 graduation. All corrections and required deposit materials must be received by the Graduate College no later than 5 p.m. on the day of the deposit deadline, the Thesis Office strongly encourages students to submit the thesis for review several days before the deadline. You've Deposited Your Thesis. Now What?

As you put the finishing touches on your thesis deposit, it’s a great idea to think of some of the things you need to do if you are preparing to leave the University of Illinois, like set email forwarding, create a plan to manage your Box files, and don’t forget to return your library books! Check out our Post-Deposit Considerations page to learn more. Don’t forget to check with your department to see if there are any final tasks you should complete (such as returning keys, exit interviews, etc.).

Under this new agreement, effective 1/1/24, lead authors at all of the University of Illinois’ campuses will be able to publish their articles as open access, ensuring their research will be immediately open and available to the public and that they will retain rights in their own work. TKET enables gate-level quantum computation while managing the intricacies of NISQ technology. Join us for the next installment of the HEROP Speaker Series on Friday, December 8th at 12 PM. Irene Romulo and Dillon Bergin will present on how Cicero Independiente and MuckRock have been monitoring air pollution in Cicero. Cicero’s air quality is much worse than surrounding Cook County neighborhoods, and it’s worse than what previous organizations have routinely reported. Now, they're digging into the biggest and most dangerous industrial polluter in Cicero: the Koppers chemical plant, which processes tars and oils.
