Nominations Sought to Attend Workshop on Science Policy and Advocacy
The university is sponsoring three graduate students to attend the 2023 Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering (CASE) workshop on March 26-29 in Washington, D.C. The workshop is hosted by American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS). Cost of travel, lodging, registration and meals will be covered for selected students. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. offers the Regeneron Prize to honor excellence in biomedical research conducted by graduate students and postdocs nationwide. Two winners annually are selected for a $50,000 personal cash prize. Applicants are evaluated on their research productivity along with the scientific clarity, elegance, precision, and creativity demonstrated through a "dream project" proposal. The Illinois Board of Higher Education is offering DFI Fellowships for 2023-24. Fellowships support students traditionally underrepresented in higher education who intend to teach or become administrators in higher education in the state of Illinois following graduation. Students in any discipline are eligible, and students in STEM are especially encouraged to apply. Fellowships offer up to four years of support, and the annual stipend will likely be ~$16,500.
