Fall 2022 Curriculum Changes

October 28 is the last day to change your curriculum for the current term. This includes adding or dropping a campus approved minor or concentration. Please check your student program information in Self-Service to verify your program information is listed correctly. Information on how to change your curriculum is available online.

Fall 2022 10th Day Registration Deadlines

By the 10th Day of Classes, September 2, graduate students should be correctly registered for Fall 2022. It is important to check your registration before this date on Self Service to make sure your registration is correct. September 2 is the last day to submit a form to audit a semester course, submit a form to register "in Absentia," add a semester course via Self-Service, and drop a semester course and receive a refund if reducing assessment range. Students enrolled in non-standard part of term courses should refer to their graduate program for deadline information.

ARC Weight Room Closure

The ARC lower level weight room will be closed Thursday and Friday, September 1 and 2 while equipment is being relocated into the new Strength and Conditioning space (formerly Gym 4). The Performance Pods, Bouldering Cave, racquetball/squash courts, cycle studio, and personal training studio will remain open. The lower level will reopen with limited equipment Saturday, September 3 and the new Strength and Conditioning space will open Tuesday, September 6.

Funding and Fellowships

Writing Effective Fellowship Proposals in the Social Sciences & Humanities

The ability to craft an effective funding proposal can reap a lifetime of rewards. As a graduate student, now is the time to hone your grantwriting proficiency. In this workshop, designed for students in the humanities and social sciences, you will learn how to identify funding opportunities, strategize the components of an effective proposal, and think like a grantwriter. There is no registration required for this in-person workshop.

Writing Personal Statements for Funding Proposals

Many funding agencies require a personal statement in addition to an applicant’s research proposal. Why?! What on earth are you supposed to talk about? If these questions have induced writer’s block, this workshop is for you. We will assess the range of personal statement prompts you may encounter and distill their shared essence. Participants will learn the qualities of a compelling statement and practice writing techniques to arrive at a complete first draft. There is no registration required for this in-person workshop.

HHMI Gilliam Fellowships Supporting Diversity in Life/Biomedical Sciences

The Graduate College is accepting departmental nominations for the Gilliam Fellowships for Advanced Study. Offered by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Gilliam Fellowships support underrepresented PhD students, and their advisors, in the life science and biomedical fields. The fellowship offers three years of support, with a $36K stipend and funds for the advisor. Open only to US citizens and permanent residents, undocumented childhood arrivals, and DACA participants.
