The enrollment/change period will be coming to a close on February 21, 2020. This is the time to enroll/add your dependents to the plan, which include spouses/partners and children. Reinstatement is available if a student requires health coverage. Students can opt-out of the student insurance with comparable coverage. Continuation of coverage up to 90 days will be possible for graduating students. Extensions are available for a non-registered semester if the student is returning for summer.

Additional positions have been added to the Illini Science Policy Fellowship, now accepting applications through March 16. Fellows work with hosts in government agencies and legislative offices in Illinois on substantive and emerging issues of public concern. Eligible applicants for 2020 must complete an advanced degree from UIUC between September 1, 2019 and August 31, 2020.

The Nanomanufacturing Node (nanoMFG) of the Network for Computational Nanotechnology at the University of Illinois is pleased to announce its nanoMFG Broadening Participation Graduate Fellowship. The fellowship aims to broaden participation in the Center. The award consists of up to two years of support ($25,000 per year, plus full tuition waiver), to start from the Fall 2020 semester. The Beckman Institute offers several fellowships and awards for Illinois graduate students. Angie Estes will be giving a reading of her work as part of the European Union Center's 18th annual EU Day celebrations. Estes is the author of six poetry collections, including Enchantée (winner of the 2015 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award) and Tryst (a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize).

Wolfgang Moessinger, Consul General of Germany in the U.S. Midwest, will be giving a keynote address, "'The New Cold War': Liberal Democracy vs. Authoritarianism — Why the EU is Today More Important Than Ever," as part of the European Union Center's 18th annual EU Day celebrations. Everyone is invited to the consul general's keynote address and the pre-keynote reception. 

The West-Eastern Divan Ensemble, led by the orchestra’s concertmaster Michael Barenboim, draws upon players of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. As the orchestra celebrates its 20th anniversary, Michael Barenboim founds this ensemble to spread the ideas behind the West Eastern Divan Orchestra even further and to give the public an opportunity to experience the musicians’ unique artistry and personality up close.
